beauty at dusk

I went to the Brooklyn Public Library yesterday evening and upon my exiting, I was struck by the beauty that is Grand Army Plaza lit at night. It never ceases to amaze me how so many things look better lit in dim light (myself included)...

the end of an era

I don't believe I have anything substantial to add to the long eulogies that have been pouring out in the last several days, but I certainly want to acknowledge this mournful occasion. Ted Kennedy championed so many causes that have been instrumental in moving our country forward in the last 50 years. He will forever be our Lion.

"We know the future will outlast all of us, but I believe that all of us will live on in the future we make."
Ted Kennedy, Dec. 1, 2008

just for the record...

...this is the cutest, most adorable cat in the world!

Providence

I had never been to Providence prior to last weekend and I am pleased to report that it is lovely! The city center itself is tiny (certainly compared to Brooklyn) but absolutely beautiful. OK, maybe not absolutely, but a high percentage... While walking with friends through the east side of town, we happened across the sweetest community garden. Vegetables and flowers abound!

We spent a lot of time at my friend's house outside of the city. He has an adorable cat who gets into everything! (And a bit of a fetish for finger biting as well...) I had no idea a cat would have any interest in watermelon, but after slicing one up he was soon found licking the juice off the counter. Who can blame him? It is the perfect time of year to get it all in!

Big Mac!

Today is my grandfather's 86th Birthday! He is truly my definition of lovely! Best wishes for the happiest of days!

I'm the armrest hanger-on in this photo circa 1980. Still hanging on to his every word - some things never change!

Welcome

So, this is my venture into the blogosphere. My goal here is to document the beautiful people, places and things that I am lucky enough to encounter on a daily basis. My hope is that this blog will assist in motivating me to get out of the house in search of more beautiful things in my excess amount of time.

To new adventures!
